Belarus

Het oerbos Belovezhskaya Pushcha herbergt 800 Europese bizons, de grootste populatie ter wereld van Europa's zwaarste landdier. In december 1991 werd hier de Sovjet-Unie ontbonden door de leiders van Rusland, Oekraïne en Belarus. Delen van het bos zijn al sinds de 14e eeuw beschermd jachtgebied.

The primeval forest Belovezhskaya Pushcha harbors 800 European bison, the world's largest population of Europe's heaviest land animal. In December 1991, the Soviet Union was dissolved here by the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Parts of the forest have been protected hunting grounds since the 14th century.
