Bulgaria

Bulgarije is de bakermat van het Cyrillisch alfabet, ontwikkeld in de 9e eeuw in Preslav. Het land produceert 85% van de wereldwijde rozenolie voor parfum; voor 30 gram zijn 60.000 rozen nodig. De bacterie in yoghurt, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, is vernoemd naar het land waar wetenschapper Stamen Grigorov hem in 1905 ontdekte.
